For 4 days now I´ve had a great time with my sisters up here! They´ve been a little unlucky with the weather here though, on Wednesday it was very windy and snowing, total white out conditions! I had planned a scooter trip for us then, but it was impossible to see anything while driving... But at least we had a great day yeasterday, with clear sky and nice weather! In the morning we went to Villmarksenteret to go on a dog sledge trip, it was fantastic! We all got to try do ride the dogslegde on the trip, and tried to sit in the sledge while travelling! We had quite a lot of wind, but we brought skiigoggles, so we had no problems =)
Hehe, the dogs are really clever, they know how to do thei´re job! Whenever we had to cross ice, the dogs automatically choose the shortest distance over the ice! Me and Siw where riding together, and we had the most eager dogs! whenever we had to stop, our dogs where crying, jumping, and trying to run forward! The other dogs where just sitting down, quietly and waiting. But our dogs where a little bit slow, I think they where saving energy, because on the way home they suddenly gained speed! It was an awesome trip!
On the way back to the town, we stopped by the Polar bear sign to take a picture. I think the Italians, that where on the same sledge-trip, was really happy about that!
Then we finally went on a scooter trip! A fellow student here where kind enough to go with us, so I could bring both of my sisters at the same time =) 2 more students also joined us. We went up Longyearbreen glacier to see the view there, and then we also went to the ice cave on Longyearbreen! Hehe, we had a small breake inside, drinking hot chocolate and tea inside the ice!
And late this night we also got to see some Northern Lights! Ana was very happy about that, because she had never seen it before =)
But now my sisters have left, and my room is not so stuffed anymore... I actually think my room was much more cosier when we were 3 people living there, it was cosy with all the stuff!
But at least I am getting a visit from some friends now, and even more is coming soon! And hopefully tomorrow, we will go on a scooter trip to a cabin during the weekend!
Ps: please guys, write a small comment so I get a idea of someone reading my blog =) Thanks!

Last Thursday me and a friend went up to Longyearbreen glacier on my snowscooter to watch the sun! It was so wonderful to see it again! And this time it stayed up for quite some time compared to last time I saw it =) I think it will take very few days before we see it in Longyearbyen city, and the days will have m more and more daylight! A lot of other people joined us as well, many wanted to see the sun. Also, many brought thei´re skiis, because it is perfect powder in the hillsides!
After we came back, we just had a quick meal before we went out skiing again! THis time we went to Larsbreen glacier. It was really nice outside, the moon was finally up again, and the sky was clear so we could see the stars, and then we had fantastic snow when we went down!
Today I had an amazing day at Longyearbreen glacier! We started to skii up to see the sun, and we brought some pancake batter to make pancakes when we arrived! We made a cosy place for us to sit in the snow (with mats, of course), made some delicious pancakes, skied down the hills in perfect powder snow! We even made a skii-jump in one of the hills! We had so much fun, we stayed there for the whole day! But in -17 degrees we have to make sure no one is cold, so everyone was jumping around, running up hills, bringing the skiis so they could skii down. And of course we take good care of each other, making sure everyone get something to eat, something warm to drink, and stay happy =)
Take care! =)

Today, I left the barrack at 9.30 to go to Trollsteinen, because the sun was going to com above the mountaintops! I used my new AT-skis, and I am really not used to go skiing with such heavy skis and boots on my feet! So I had to walk slow up the hills, it was quite hard, but totally worth it! And of course it´s not less heavy when I had so much equipment with me! I had a rifle, rounds for it, a signal pen with flare shots, shovel, avalanche probe, avalanche beacon, of course food and drink, and spare clothes. Everything necessary. I´ve never carried that much equipment while skiing before!
When I came to Trollsteinen, I was of course not the only one up there to see the sun. Several students and some local people where there, most of them had not seen the sun since last october! When I started to ski up Trollsteinen, I already though I was to late to see the sun, but I arrived just in time! Hehe, that was good, because then I did not have to stand there and freeze like the ones that where already up there =P
It was so nice! I really missed the big, burning ball in the sky, it was nice to see it again! But I am pretty sure it was even better for the ones who stayed here since last semester, of course =) And in this quiet place, it was funny to hear the cheering when the sun was rising above the top! And it was really cool to watch it rise =) Hehe, we had to watch closely, because it barely arouse so we could se the whole circle-shape, and then it started to sink again. So basically we have been at Trollsteinen from sunrise to sun-dawn (actually, we´ve been there for 3 sunrises and sun-dawns, because it peeped up behind the next mountaintop, sinked again, and peeped up again =P).
The view from Trollsteinen was amazing! It was spectacular! And the trip down was awesome, expecially when we found long distances with wonderful powdered snow! Some places I really just wanted to go up again, just so I could ski down a second time!
And later today, my day got even better when I got a package from my boyfriend! <3 I got a really nice gift from him, a polar bear pendant =) And the money for the necklace goes to the protection of polar bears :-) Thank you!
Can´t wait to see the sun again! =D

Me and a friend bought a snowscooter! This is going to be awesome! I am so looking forward to go on trips to Barentszburg, Pyramiden, maybe even Svea! And use it to go up the mountains, so we can skii down and drive up again!
It is an Arctic Cat Panther (Touring) 370, 2004 model, not the biggest engine, but big enough to not have any problems with two people on it! I picked it up in the weekend, and have tried it a little bit driving at the river, and a very short trip up to Longyearbreen. Sam haven`t tried it yet, because she was on a trip this weekend, so I bet she is really eager to try our baby!
We are going to have so much fun!

Last Friday we had the Ice Breaker-party, a Unis tradition! The party is for everyone working or studying at Unis, and it happens every semester. The point of the party is as the name suggests, to " break the ice", giving everyone a chance to get to know each other. The new students are to plan it, come up with a theme, organize it, make food, desserts and drinks, and have some great activities! I was in the dessert group, and I think I can say we made some pretty awesome desserts for the party! Check out our Mountain Cake, Ice Hockey- Ice skating- and Curling field! And of course our Olympic rings!
As you might have guessed, the theme of this Ice Breaker was the Winter Olympics! People were so creative with costumes! Some one was dressed up as the Olympic Torch, the Gold Medal (that was me), the podium, an Alpine Skii hill, Olympic branch (Norwegian ekspression for the different sports), Bob-sledge team, Olympic Rings, snowball, snow crystal, Press Team, ect ect.
The activities was sprint skiing, with 4 people on 1 pair of skiis, and biathlon!
It was a great night! I can´t wait until next Ice Breaker next semester, I hope it will be as fun as this one!
